Change is difficult (DUH!)

This week, yesterday actually, was to be the beginning of change. Not some great new direction, just getting back to some prior habits that made my quality of life better. Those habits:

1) Exercise every morning - typically a 40-45 minute walk.
2) Daily quiet time - reading some scripture and/or some daily reading in a book about improving my spiritual discipline or spiritual journey.
3) Journaling (here) 3 times a week - didn't set this to every day because I know that it won't happen every day because it can't happen every day.

And those three things above were just changes to my weekdays. Weekends are still to be determined. The schedule on weekends varies too much week to week.

How have I done so far?
Monday - no walk (never will on Mondays due to very early departure for work), no quiet time, no journaling.
Tuesday (today) - no walk, no quiet time, but did manage to journal.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll work in all three.

Climbing back on the horse

Mentally I treat September (post Labor Day) as kind of a mini-January. Time to get a fresh start on things, revive habits that I've let die (especially over the hot summer months), things like that.

My plans for next week:
Resume my morning exercise before going to work
Resume my blogging - at least 3 days a week
Resume my morning quiet time.

This will result in less sleeping in. But maybe I'll start going to bed before midnight. That'd be nice.

I just read that last sentence. Apparently I've suddenly gotten old.
