No Compromise

Last week I went along (as I do every summer) on our church's high school youth group mission trip as an adult leader. No exciting international trips for us - there's plenty to do around here (USA) - plenty of people in need. We went a few states east, into a rural area in the mountains, and painted houses. We use a mission trip organization that has a regular presence in these communities. Once they get established in a community, they stay. They are there every summer, year after year, and sometimes they even have staff living in the town the rest of the year. Along with managing the work projects and other logistics, they also plan content for the early mornings and evenings bracketing the work day.

There is a morning devotional time and an evening worship time. And they always have a theme for the week. Honestly, I don't even recall the theme this year because I came away with my own theme. I came away realizing just how many areas in my life I've been compromising. And I didn't like it. So while thinking through this on the drive home, I decided now was the time for a change. From now on, No Compromise. This doesn't mean forcing my will on others, but rather stopping compromise in areas that I have possibly compromised my faith or beliefs. Less going along with the crowd and more standing up for what I believe in. I wonder how this will work out.
